Scott Brown has taken a thinly veiled swipe at Rangers attacker Todd Cantwell, saying that the difference between his old club and their city rivals is that Celtic do their talking on the pitch.
The former Celtic captain had a run out at his old stomping ground at the weekend as a team of Parkhead legends took on a side of ex-Borussia Dortmund players in aid of The Celtic Foundation.
And the now-Ayr United manager showed that he still had it in the press room as well as on the pitch as he spelled out exactly why Brendan Rodgers’ men have had the edge over Rangers this season, winning four of their five meetings and sealing a league and Scottish Cup double. “There’s a lot of people talk in the press and talk on social media and do all their TikToks and Youtube stuff or whatever it is,” Brown said.

“The good thing about our club is that they do their talking on the park, and they continue to do that. It’s not about outside, it’s about the focus that is inside the football club and the mentality to keep going day to day. I think Celtic always have that belief, whether it goes to the 98th minute or whatever it is.
“As soon as Celtic scored the goal [on Saturday] it looked as though Rangers had just collapsed, and they never had any belief that they could go and nick a goal back. Celtic re-energised and you felt they could keep the ball again. It was an excellent performance from the lads to scrape a 1-0 win in a cup final.
“Sometimes you don’t always have to be at your best, but you have to make sure you are switched on for 90 minutes, and that’s what Brendan’s team always do.”
