Ange Postecoglou look set to be on his way out of Celtic and announced as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Aussie is believed to have verbally agreed a switch to the English Premier League side despite guiding Celtic to a world record eighth treble at the weekend.

The 3-1 Scottish Cup success over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden was somewhat overshadowed by the uncertainty surrounding the 57-year-old's future at the club.

Postecoglou led Celtc to five trophies in his two year stint at the managerial helm but it is certain that a new boss will be charged with the task of steering the men in green and white into the group stages of the Champions League.

Although Celtic, Tottenham Hostpur or Postecoglou have yet to officially confirm the move it seems only a matter of time before the deal to take the Aussie to North London is rubber stamped.

Early frontrunners for the Celtic job include former manager Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers has been out of work since his sacking at Leicester a couple of months ago and is listed as the bookies' favourite to take over the reins.

The Northern Irishman left for the King Power Stadium before the season ended in 2019 just as he was on the cusp of a treble treble and the Celtic supporters have already vocied their concerns on him making a return to the club.

Ex-Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter and Bodo Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen also feature on the shortlist which includes candidates such as West Ham head coach Davie Moyes, Celtic current number two John Kennedy, Fleetwood boss Scott Brown, Enzo Maresca, Scotland head coach Steve Clark and Jesse Marsch.

Potter has been on the job market since April following an unsuccessful spell at Stamford Bridge and has recently been linked with a host of English clubs including Crystal Palace and Leeds United as well as French side Nice.

Knutsen would be another ambitious shout by the Celtic board and would tick the continuity box as his style and philsophy of 4-3-3 attacking football is similar to Postecoglou's and he has enjoyed success both domestically and at European level.

Celtic know all about Knutsen after they crashed 5-1 on aggregate to the Norwegians side in the Europa Conference League play-off tie back in February 2022.
