Ange Postecoglou handed up-and-coming B-team prospect Rocco Vata his Celtic debut in the 4-0 Premiership win against Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night. Here's how he got on...
Vata entered the fray as an 84th-minute replacement for Matt O'Riley. Rather than the central role the Dane occupied, however, Vata took up Daizen Maeda's left-wing position.
His first involvement was picking up a pass from Carl Starfelt just beyond the halfway line and immediately his intent was clear: can I beat a man?
That man was Hibs winger Thody Elie Youan, who tracked the teenager ably and ultimately nudged him off the ball to win a goal kick following a ricochet; Vata should not be too discouraged by that given the same thing happened to Jota before the game ended.

A minute or so later he won the team a corner when collecting a rebound on his chest on the edge of the area and attempting to get it under control.
He was involved again as the clock ticked over past 90 minutes played when Callum McGregor played him in down the left flank. Again his thought was immediate: go at the defender. On this occasion he ultimately chose the easy - and correct - ball by laying it off and helped create space for his team-mate by continuing his run into the area as the Hoops won another corner.
Before his cameo was out he showed another glimpse of intent by shuffling into the box and checking back onto his right foot before trying to place a shot that was blocked.
There ended the debut and, baby steps though it may be, it provided Vata with a possible enticing glimpse of that elusive youth pathway in action.
