Ex-Celtic winger Liel Abada netted a double to see Charlotte FC run out 3-2 winners over Atlanta United.

The Israeli forward scored twice in the second half to see his side win on the road in the MLS fixture.

And it also earned Abada bragging rights over former team-mate Giorgos Giakoumakis who currently turns out for Atlanta.

In a man of the match showing, Abada fired Charlotte into the lead with a superb low-driven strike from the edge of the box.

Then, just 12 minutes later, he doubled his tally to make it 3-1 as he curled into the bottom corner from a smart cut back into the area.

Abada's double alongside an own goal by Derrick Williams was enough to earn victory for Charlotte despite Thiago Almada and Xande Silva scoring for the hosts.

The league fixture double takes Abada's goal tally to three in eight outings since his switch to the United States from Celtic.

Former Celtic pal Giakoumakis stepped off the bench for Atlanta in the MLS contest but couldn't haul his side back into the match.

The Greek forward put sporting rivalry aside after full-time as he posed with "Little brother" Abada as the pair exchanged shirts.

Abada shared a snap of the reunion as he captioned the image: "Good to see you my bro".

It comes as Giakoumakis is reportedly set for an ยฃ8m switch to Mexican side Cruz Azul.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the Mexican giants are set to seal a deal for the 29-year-old, who is said to be keen on the move.
