Kenny Dalglish reckons Rangers will find it even harder to defeat Celtic next season, after Saturday's loss left the Ibrox club winless from three league meetings.

Philippe Clement's Gers do have an opportunity to make some amends when the pair go head-to head in the Scottish Cup final later this month.

But with Celtic in a strong financial position heading into the summer, the former Hoops striker discussed both club's prospective transfer windows as he dissected their campaigns. 

"Brendan Rodgers has the experience to know how to handle this kind of fixture and how to get the best out of his players for such an important 90 minutes," he wrote in his Sunday Post column.

"Philippe Clement now has to find a way to do this. And he needs to find solutions quickly.

"Sure, he deserves credit for getting Rangers back into the title race after taking over from Michael Beale seven months ago.

"But he has also had three games against Celtic and taken just one point. He will know that record needs to improve.

“Ultimately, when all is said and done, he has failed to win the title. Chances were there this season to go top and extend leads over Celtic but the team didn’t deliver. 

"It will be interesting to see what changes he makes in the summer as he attempts to really put his own stamp on the squad. There will be at least five or six departures and he needs to recruit well. New players will need to come in and hit the ground running. It will be interesting to see what kind of funds the Belgian is given to strengthen his squad.

"Across the city, Celtic find themselves in a very healthy financial situation. They have a bank balance that would make most clubs envious.

"And they are one point in the SPFL title from guaranteeing another cash boost in excess of £35 million for being in the Champions League next season. Brendan will also make changes to the squad and there will be several players moved on.

"New ones will come in and Brendan will want any new recruits to be of the highest possible calibre. Of course, being able to spend a few quid on transfer doesn’t guarantee success, but it most certainly gives you a better chance."
