Matt O’Riley's fine form for Celtic this campaign has earned him a nomination for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year. For teammate Greg Taylor, the Denmark international is the clear frontrunner for the award.

With 15 goals in all competitions under his belt so far this season, as well as 17 assists (including one of each in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Hearts) the central midfielder has excelled under Brendan Rodgers during the 2023/24 trail, with personal and collective success now well within reach.

In Taylor's view, it's not just his 23-year-old teammate's stats that have elevated his game above the rest, but the consistency with which he's conducted himself week-in, week-out – right from the start of the season through to this final stretch of games.

In more recent weeks, this consistency has seen O'Riley score under pressure from the spot at Ibrox with a Panenka penalty, and find the net both during open play and in the throes of the thrilling shootout against Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden.

With goal contributions across the Scottish Premiership, League Cup, Scottish Cup, and UEFA Champions League this year, it's easy to see why Taylor feels this way.

"In my eyes, Matt is the clear winner," Taylor said. "His performances have been so consistent throughout the year and I know it would be a huge honour for him.

"It would be great for Matt that his fellow professionals have voted him as player of the year. It would be fully deserved too."

Taylor added: "Matt has been so consistent for us in big games and scored big goals. He’s also one who devotes his whole life to the game, like most boys do now.

"But when you see someone get success off the back of that, you can really appreciate it and be happy for them."
