A clip from David Martindale's post-match interview on Livingston's social media accounts has drawn attention after a bizarre Celtic name gaffe.

The Scottish Premiership manager saw his side fall to a 3-0 defeat to Celtic with the club rooted to the bottom of the league table - ten points behind Ross County in 11th.

Martindale - who has earned plaudits for his work at Livingston defying expectations in previous campaigns - was understandably frustrated after his side "shot themselves in the foot" to lose in West Lothian.

And in his post-match interview, Martindale admitted he was sick of meeting people who offered credit to Livingston even after narrow defeats.

He said: "Is that not the story of the season? I'm sick of bumping into people, speaking to people, 'I've seen you, you were good in that game, you will not go down'. Hearts here, Hibs...there's loads.

"Half time we got in and made a couple of wee tweaks, a bit of minor adjustment because I thought the game plan was good, distances were good, aggression was good. 

"We limited them to very little, Sham had a big save from Kyogo. The back four I thought were half decent today - you've got Sean [Kelly] centre-back injuries, Notts [Michael Nottingham] who I thought dealt with Maeda impeccably well."

However, it was Martindale's next sentence that has caught the attention of Celtic supporters on social media as the Livingston boss bemoaned the "easy option" afforded to the Parkhead centre-back pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales.

The only issue on Martindale's analysis of the potential space in the Celtic rearguard for his striker, was that he accidentally misnamed Scales as Manchester City defender John Stones.

Martindale said: "There was a lot to be positive about. I made a couple of wee tweaks. I thought Tete [Yengi] in the first half kept dropping in and it gave Carter-Vickers and John Stones an easy option and just went tight with him whereas the space was down the channels.

"We made a couple tweaks and adjustments and then we go out and shoot ourselves in the foot."

Celtic supporters were quick to pick up on the name gaffe with light-hearted responses on social media.

One fan commented: "Celtic kept the John stones transfer quiet".

And another wrote: "When did we sign John stones? 🤔🤣"
