Celtic and Rangers have been "propelled" into UEFA's top gate receipt rankings.

Both Glasgow clubs feature in the recent European Club Finance and Investment Landscape report from UEFA.

And it makes positive reading for both clubs with fan backing firing both clubs into an elite list - led by Barcelona.

Rangers rank as the 18th-placed side on gate receipts with Celtic just one spot behind at 19.

The report reveals a Є48m gate receipts income for Ibrox coffers with Celtic banking Є47m.

Despite the European accolade, the totals - up Є4m for Celtic and down Є2m for Rangers - have led to both sides slipping in the rankings.

Rangers were previously 13th with Celtic 16th, however AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus all recorded seismic shifts in their gate receipts income in 2023.

In terms of per fan income, the report puts the average ticket income for Celtic at Є33, with Rangers at Є36.50.

Conversely, Paris Saint Germain bank Є140.20 in their average revenue per fan leading to their increased standing in the rankings.

The UEFA report stated: "Seven clubs reported gate revenues of more than €100m in 2023, with Liverpool FC set to  rejoin this group in 2024 following their stadium expansion.

"The gate receipts of the top  20 clubs by gate revenue grew by an extremely healthy 32% in 2023, with only four  clubs reporting declines.

"The largest absolute increases in gate revenue were reported by Spanish and Italian clubs."

And a UEFA statement explained: "This list of the top 20 clubs features many of the usual suspects, but the large supporter bases of Olympique de Marseille, Rangers FC, Celtic FC and AFC Ajax have propelled those clubs into the list."
