Brendan Rodgers has lifted the lid on Celtic's latest injury concern for Cameron Carter-Vickers. 

The Irishman insists the club is hopeful that the injury is nothing serious as the American international misses today's Scottish Cup quarter-final against Livingston.

He was a notable absentee when his name wasn't on the teamsheet that was announced at around 1.15pm this afternoon.

And Rodgers has revealed that he felt a twinge in his hamstring during a light training session on Saturday. 

"Yeah, precaution really," he said when asked about Carter-Vickers on BBC Sportsound. "He was due to play, due to start but we only had a very light session and he just felt something in his hamstring. So we're hoping it's not too serious but there was no need and no want to take the risk with him because he's had an interrupted season.

"We're hoping it's nothing major with him and we've got Welshy who has played in some big games this season and did well."

Meanwhile, Rodgers has stressed that he will have no qualms about signing an Israeli player in future following the departure of Liel Abada from Celtic this week.

Abada joined MLS franchise Charlotte in the United States on Thursday in a deal which could end up banking the Parkhead club £10m.

The 22-year-old winger has felt unable to play for the Scottish champions, whose fans have shown their support for the people of Palestine amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, in recent weeks.

Rodgers described the exit of the former PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year as “desperately sad” on Friday.

However, the Northern Irishman has stated that he will have no hesitation bringing in an Israeli footballer going forward if he believes he can improve his squad.
