Brendan Rodgers admits Liel Abada could leave Celtic as the winger is "not in the right frame of mind" to play at the moment.

 The winger is not in the squad for tomorrow's game against Kilmarnock and also missed the recent Scottish Cup victory over St Mirren.

Rodgers previously revealed that the forward wasn't in the right frame of mind to play for the club as he struggles to deal with the conflict in his Israel.

He said: "I am really empathetic towards the issue that he has as it is more than football. It is at a human level, so I have to respect that.

"He is training and working away but as I said to you, this period is all about the mind and if you are not quite right then... firstly I cannot take any risk with him because we will always support him and have to look after the squad as well.

"People can talk about what is going on there and forget about it. This is his life, every single day and night... families in a war.

"It is a really tough situation for him and on a human level I have real empathy for him and we will do that, like I have with a number of players before, to take the human aspect and look after him.

"When is ready, if he is ready, he will be able to give us everything."

Abada has come under enormous pressure from some in his homeland to quit the Scottish champions.

And when Rodgers was then asked if the winger continues to be unavailable if the player eventually look for a move elsewhere, the 50-year-old responded: "It is a possibility."
