Kieran Tierney faces an anxious sweat until the weekend to discover the severity of the hamstring tear he suffered this week.

The Scotland star was taken off playing for Real Sociedad in a Copa del Rey quarter final win at Celta Vigo and manager Imanol Alguacil revealed after the game he was expecting the results on Thursday.

But the MRI scan had to be delayed because of swelling in the leg of the on loan Arsenal ace and he won't get the results of the damage until the weekend.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke will be anxiously awaiting the results too with the former Celtic defender a key part of his plans for this summer's Euro 2024 tournament.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Sociedad are expecting him to be out for around six weeks, but won't know for sure until the scan has been completed.

Tierney has suffered several injuries in his career and was sidelined after knee surgery last season while with the Gunners.

And he will be hoping to revive his La Liga career as soon as possible after also suffering a hamstring injury in October that kept him out for two months.
