Celtic are reportedly "ready to reject" a bid from Atletico Madrid for Matt O'Riley.

This is according to the Scottish Sun who claim that the Hoops "have NO plans to cash in on the midfielder - and will stand firm in the wake of the LaLiga side's interest".

It comes as Sky Sports have reported that Diego Simeone's men have tabled "an initial six-month loan with an obligation to buy in the summer for the 23-year-old."

O'Riley has thrived under Brendan Rodgers, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists for the Scottish champions so far this season.

And he has been the subject of much speculation as a result of this form, prompting the Hoops to extend his deal last year which keeps him under contract at Parkhead until 2027.

Celtic boss Rodgers stated before the recent victory over Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup that he was not aware of any interest in the Denmark international.

He said: "I'm not aware of any [interest]. But it's natural. If you have got good players, it's natural you have good players, they will attract attention but I'm not focused on that at all.

"We don't want to be losing anyone. The plan was to add to the squad and that is still the plan."
