Everything that Brendan Rodgers said to Celtic TV after the 2-0 Scottish Premiership win over Livingston…

What is your reaction to what in the end was a good victory?

I was delighted with the performance. We created a lot of chances and I don't think the players got the goals out of the game that their play deserved. We had some very good play and we started the game very well in the first 20-25 minutes. Their goalkeeper made some saves and we had some misses but I just felt at half-time we needed to keep that perseverance. The second half was the perfect start as we came out and got the goal from Kyogo and that settled everything down. It was a really good win in what has been a difficult week for the players. If you lose two games as a Celtic player or manager it can be tough. You always have the opportunity to bounce back and the players did that today very well.

You asked them to start the game well and they could have had two or three early goals but there was a real urgency about them. Is that exactly what you asked for?

Yes. It is what you need. It is that ambition I talk about. You have to go out and you cannot be comfortable in any game. As soon as that whistle goes you have got to go and impose your style and game on the opposition. They did that. They were very hungry to go and show that today. You play with that bit of anger as well and that brings up the intensity and the tempo and everything was good. The counter-pressing was good and we were on it. Anything that came forward the centre-halves were aggressive winning that first ball and that let the midfield get around it and you can go and play forward. Our only complaint was that we never scored the goals that we maybe could have done. All around it was a good win for us.

The players did look hungry but Kyogo scored at a very important time in the match, didn't he? It was important for him but it was important for the squad as it typified the desire to get the goals, didn't it?

It is about the team. Of course, a striker always wants to score goals. I think Kyogo is only three short of where he was last season but he will feel that he should have scored more goals. That was an important goal for us. As a striker, he is in there and he stays onside very cleverly and gets the important touch. With Scalesy we did some work on our set-pieces as we could do better for and against. It was a great ball in by Luis and a good run by Liam and he gets the contact and that's what we spoke about. It was a good performance and I am very pleased. We dominated the ball and we created chances and won the game.

It was a big occasion for both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Scales as it was Cameron's 100th game and it was Scales' first goal this season and first ever Celtic goal. How pleased are you with them? Yet both of them are just focused on the next big game coming up and want to keep their eyes on the next 90 minutes.

That's right. December is a grind of a month and there are lots of games and not a lot of recovery time but the expectation is to get results and we fell short of that recently. Today we were much more like ourselves. There was a determination within the team which is what we wanted to see and we got the result. Now we can have a very quiet Christmas with the family and prepare for the game against Dundee and we hope to go up there and get the points also.

Do you have a Christmas message for the Celtic supporters?

For all the Celtic supporters worldwide and at home and abroad it is a time to cherish. It is about family and football and now is the time to enjoy it with your family. It is very precious. Celtic will be here in 20-25 years and some of those kids will be adults and some people sadly won't be around. Every moment is special and hopefully, all Celtic supporters can enjoy Christmas.
