Celtic defender Alistair Johnston has joked about "pulling up" new signing Luis Palma.

The Canadian opened up on a previous meeting between the two while on international duty.

They faced off during a CONCACAF Nation's League game in 2022, before either signed for the Hoops, and Johnston got sent off during the fixture.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: "John Herdman really liked what he saw from me and brought me into the (national team) camp.

"My first training session of the camp I'm going one v one against Alphonso Davies and he actually pulled up his back from a 50/50 with me and I was like 'Oh no, what have I done?"

"All of the boys were just like 'Pack your bags! Luckily he was alright thankfully. That was just the start and it kicked off with my first cap and someone told me I broke a record for most consecutive caps in a row.

"I think I played 33 matches straight until I got a red card and got suspended, thanks to Palma actually down in Honduras.

"We need to pull him up on that."
