Celtic have been dealt yet another blow on the injury front, this time in the shape of Liel Abada.
The 21-year-old winger - who suffered a knock whilst on international duty with Israel - has been sent for further scans, with the forward facing as long as five months out. Abada had signed a new four-year deal with the club just weeks ago, but now looks set for an extended stay on the sidelines.
Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic side are no strangers to injuries, especially this season. The team currently have many players out of action, including defensive stalwarts Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki, as well as Stephen Welsh and Marco Tilio, though the latter is close to making his return. Reo Hatate has also been unavailable, though his return this weekend looks increasingly likely.
Abada's national team manager Alon Hazan was understandably downbeat about these latest developments. He said: "I feel so bad for the boy because he had started the season so well and he had just also signed a new contract at Celtic.
"Liel arrived here in maybe his sharpest and best form since I have been manager and I told him that too. Then suddenly he got an injury at the end of training that seemed minor. But after that, we realised he was going to be absent for a long period of time.
"I was certain he would be an important player in the national team and he would have helped us get the results we want. I wish him nothing but good health and a speedy recovery and hope he will return to us as soon as possible. We love him and are waiting for him."

The good news for Celtic is that they have sufficient cover in this area, even though the loss of Abada for at least a few months is a major disappointment. Summer signing Yang Hyun-jun - who made his international debut last week - can play on this side, as can James Forrest if needed.
