Scott McTominay could be used as a makeweight by Manchester United to sign Brighton star Moises Caicedo this summer.
The Scotland midfielder has been heavily linked with the Old Trafford exit door ahead of the new campaign.
He's made over 200 appearances for his boyhood club having come through their academy.
However, the Scot has fallen down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
With the signing of Mason Mount completed too, the 26-year-old will face an even greater challenge for a place in the starting XI.
The Daily Mirror now say that Caicedo is the latest player United are keen to sign as their rebuild under ten Hag continues.
And they claim that McTominay could be offered as part of a player-plus-cash deal with the Seagulls to tempt them into selling their prized asset.
Caicedo is highly-sought after a tremendous debut season in the Premier League last term, with Chelsea also in the running for the £80million-rated player.

McTominay is valued at around £40million by United's hierarchy, and he's even been linked with Celtic this summer.
Should a deal go through, McTominay would link up with fellow international teammate Billy Gilmour at the Amex Stadium.
The Scotland goal machine is one of 13 players United are willing to offload this summer as they aim to raise funds for more incoming transfers.
Meanwhile, Celtic have lost out to Bordeaux in the hunt for striker Zan Vipotnik after his club confirmed they were offers from five clubs for him.
The Hoops are sitting on a fortune after the £25 million sale of Jota to Saudi Arabia and are ready to splash out on new recruits to their squad.
