Former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong is on the transfer radar of Arsenal, according to reports.

The Gunners are set for a summer spending spree, with Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber closing in on moves to The Emirates.

But Mikel Arteta is not content with just two incoming as he aims to strengthen his squad ahead of another tilt for the Premier League title. 

German media outlet Bild claims that Arsenal are the latest club to register their interest in Frimpong.

They state that Arteta is a big admirer of the 22-year-old, and views him as a player who would fit into the Arsenal project well. 

It's said that a transfer fee could be worth £35million should a deal be pursued. 

And that would mean Celtic would pocket a decent sum after they included a significant sell-on clause after they sold the right-back to Bayer Leverkusen for £11million in January 2021.

The infectious Dutch international has been an impressive performer in the Bundesliga, and as a result, has attracted the interest of some of Europe's biggest names. 

Manchester United and Real Madrid are also said to be keen on Frimpong, but this has amounted to nothing concrete at this stage.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been urged to enter into a money-spinning partnership with a Saudi Arabian club - or risk being priced out of the international transfer market as the oil-rich Middle East nation increases its investment in football.

Jota completed a £25m move to Saudi Professional League outfit Al-Ittihad on Monday night and banked the Scottish champions a cool £19m profit on a player they bought from Benfica for £6m just 12 months ago in the process.

But could the billions of petrodollars which the Gulf state has started pouring in to the beautiful game have potentially-detrimental long-term implications for the treble winners and their Premiership rivals?
