Celtic hero Frank McAvennie reckons defender Alexandro Bernabei is "biding his time" until he gets a run in the team.

Scotland international Greg Taylor is currently keeping the 22-year-old out of the Hoops starting eleven.

Bernabei has one goal and three assists for the Scottish champions across 17 appearances so far this season.

And McAvennie reckons he will get a chance sooner or later.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: "He is a natural left-back and I think he might be a better defender.

"But Greg has come on leaps and bounds and I have not been short of criticising him when he has needed it.

"But he has come on wonders and that is all down to the manager. I just can’t get used to seeing the left-back running up front but that is the way Celtic like to play now and it is great to watch.

"At the moment Bernabei is just biding his time and his goal last week is not doing him any harm."

Meanwhile, Celtic legend Henrik Larsson has praised Jota for his goal against Rangers in the Hoops' 3-2 victory over their Glasgow rivals.

The Portuguese winger netted the Parkhead side's third and final goal in the match as Ange Postecoglou's side moved 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Jota celebrated his goal in a social media post which showed a side-by-side comparison of a similar strike Larsson converted against the Ibrox side in 2001.

On that day Celtic won 3-0 in Govan and just like the 23-year-old did to Allan McGregor, Larsson rounded the opposition goalkeeper to convert his chance.

The caption from the winger read: "Inspired by the greats." And the former Sweden international then shared the video on his own Instagram story, tipping his hat to Jota.
