Celtic retained the League Cup with a 2-1 win over Rangers at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Kyogo Furuhashi's double - his second in succession in the competition's showpiece - rendered Alfredo Morelos's counter irrelevant as Ange Postecoglou's men lifted the first silverware of the season.

As party time approached for the men in green and white, the defeated finalists opted to vacate the premises rather than stick about for the trophy lift.

Postecoglou made two changes to his team from last weekend's Scottish Premiership victory over Aberdeen.

Matt O'Riley dropped to the bench to be replaced by Aaron Mooy, who made his first start in the derby fixture, while Oh Hyeon-gyu also took a place on the bench in favour of match-winner Furuhashi.

Post-match, former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan was full of praise for the Hoops.

He said: “I think Celtic deserved it in the end. I’ve got to say, great showing from Rangers.

“I actually thought when they took the free-kick: get past it and they’ll be OK. Celtic don’t have the height advantage at free-kicks.

“Michael Beale putting the three midfield players on made a big difference.

“Ange might lock himself in a room tonight and have a good laugh, because he’s keeping it in there.

“It has to give Celtic belief. But it only lasts six hours at this club, it only lasts until tonight then they go again. That’s part of this club’s DNA.”
