Celtic officially unveiled their new camouflage-inspired third kit for the 2024/25 season this week, inside what is the fifth and final year of Adidas and the club's record-breaking contract.

Announced in 2020, the high-profile partnership has extended into one of Celtic's most disappointing seasons in recent memory through some of its best – including Ange Postecoglou's hugely successful two-year tenure as manager and the double-winning return of Brendan Rodgers.

Whether or not Adidas extend their partnership with Celtic remains to be seen, but, as it stands, this season's third kit marks the last of the current deal – prospective special kits aside.

With that, read on for our 5 years of Adidas Celtic kits ranked rundown, in the final year of the club and Adidas' bumper deal.

5. Celtic and Adidas 2023/24 kits

Adidas deserve some credit for thinking outside of the box here, but the home kit for the 2023/24 campaign was a deviation too far for many fans.

With its wavy hoops and stained-glass window design, darker green tones and black branding, this one definitely stood apart from what we've become accustomed to over decades of modern iterations on a classic template.

That said, those who did enjoy last term's hoops appeared to really enjoy them – so much so, that this kit feels like a sure-fire future cult classic, revered by a younger generation in the same way the CR Smith kits of the 1990s are today.

The same could probably be said about last year's mint green/teal third kit, with its soundwave-inspired patterns, officially described as a nod to Glasgow's vibrant music scene.

Last year's away kit, on the other hand, was a belter. Simple, streamlined, and pretty much the antithesis of its home and third kit counterparts. Still, the latter two were so out there that it somewhat overshadowed the gorgeous black, white and forest green 2023/24 away.

4. Celtic and Adidas 2024/25 kits

This season's home kit is nice, if ruined slightly by the contemporary universal Adidas template.

Its green Adidas stripes and logo pair well with the simple hoops design itself, but the flame-like forks at either side overcomplicate things. This is even more jarring as the dark green bracket-patterns extend onto this home kit's white shorts.

Adam Idah jokes aside, the Celtic away kit this year does look like a Norwich City knock-off. The intricate tonal green oversized crest is great, and the yellow colour palette throws back to the Seville era of Celtic away kits. But would this kit be nicer without the horizonal stripes? For me, yes.

The newly-revealed 2024/25 Celtic third kit is camouflage in design, said to mimic the sea of fans and scarves that fill the stands on matchday, 30 years on from the closure of the old Celtic Park's esteemed all-standing section The Jungle. Another sure-fire cult-classic, no matter what you think of it today.

3. Celtic and Adidas 2021/22 kits

Change was in the air at Celtic in the summer of 2021, yet Adidas kept it simple in their sophomore year manufacturing kits for Glasgow's green and white.

The hoops were clean, with an extra border framing each band of green. The bottle-green away kit matched well with its peach/golden branding. And the pinstripe third kit, although not as popular as the others, appeared to sell well among Parkhead's younger supporters.

Callum McGregor lifting the Scottish League Cup – his first of seven trophies as Celtic captain so far – while wearing the aforementioned dark green away top is an image that will live long in the memory.

2. Celtic and Adidas 2022/23 kits

Celtic entered Ange Postecoglou's second season in charge brimming with confidence, with a repertoire of Adidas kits to match. The home kit boasted silver Adidas stripes, representative of the club's long-standing love affair with silverware, and the hoops themselves were punctuated by a '90s-style diamond aesthetic set against a darker shade of green.

Furthering that retro throwback style, the Celtic away kit for the 2022/23 campaign effectively mirrored the same CR Smith kit from 30 years earlier and was an instant hit.

While hardly worn, Celtic's third kit for the 2022/23 season was the least notable with its muted grey colour palette against black and neon yellow. Still, like all of the kits worn in this season, winning a domestic treble certainly helps cement their place in history – and these three as a package are up there with Adidas' Celtic best.

Honourable mentions

These strips weren't worn in matches, but have been released as so-called special edition kits during Celtic's partnership with Adidas.

1. Celtic and Adidas 2020/21 kits

The 2020/21 season was, to put it lightly, one to forget for Celtic fans. But it boasted an unforgettable line-up of kits nevertheless. Adidas' debut campaign with Celtic, all three kits were among the best we've seen – not just in hindsight looking back over the German brand's association with the club, but of all time.

The hoops with its simple design complimented by flashes of golden-yellow was sublime. The mint green love letter to Love Street away kit was superb. And the black and mint third kit with the first usage of the now semi-regular oversized badge was simply top drawer.

It is such a shame that the football didn't match the uniforms, but this trifecta of Adidas Celtic kits was the saving grace in one of the darkest on-pitch periods in recent memory.
