Celtic are reportedly in negotiations with Kasper Schmeichel.

It's claimed the Parkhead club are in talks with the Premier League winning goalkeeper over a move to Glasgow.

Schmeichel, 37, is a free agent after leaving Anderlecht following a one-year period in Belgium.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported Celtic are "closing in" on a deal to sign Schmeichel this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after Joe Hart retired in the summer.

Celtic currently have Scott Bain and Benji Siegrist under contract but it's thought they are keen to sign a new No1 to succeed Hart.

Schmeichel, son of Manchester United hero Peter, began his career at Manchester City.

After a series of loan spells, including one at Falkirk, he moved to Notts County and then Leeds.

Schmeichel would then settle at Leicester City where he would win the Championship, Premier League, FA Cup and FA Community Shield.

The goalkeeper captained Leicester for a period under Rodgers in 2021/22 before moving to Nice and then spending a season at Anderlecht.

He had signed a one-year deal with the Belgian club but is now a free agent.
