Celtic chiefs are working to sign Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo in a combined £10m transfer package, according to a report.

Brendan Rodgers is thought to be keen to see both loan signings return to Celtic on a permanent basis this summer.

Celtic did have a buy clause in Bernardo's loan from Benfica but the fee included was reportedly around £6.4m.

Club officials are hopeful of negotiating that fee down with Benfica in order to deliver the player for Rodgers this summer.

In the case of striker Idah, Celtic could be forced to play a waiting game to discover whether or not a transfer deal is possible.

Norwich City have just appointed Johannes Hoff Thorup and it's expected the new manager will want to assess his squad before any transfer dealings are sanctioned.

The Scottish Sun report a deal for Idah is likely to cost a minimum of £5m. The outlet claims Celtic chiefs will aim to finance deals for both Idah and Bernardo for a combined £10m fee.

It's understood both Idah and Bernardo would be more than keen to return to Celtic this summer after enjoying a league and cup-winning double while on loan.

After the Scottish Cup final, Idah said on his future: "I don't know. I am still contracted with Norwich.

"Football is a tricky situation, I will go back in the summer have my time off and who knows what is going to happen."

Asked if he wanted to return to Celtic, he added: It's a great club, I love the club, I have always supported the club. Who knows."

Manager Rodgers added: "Hopefully very realistic [Idah signing for Celtic]. For me, he was the catalyst for our season because we needed a different dimension up front and the big guy comes in and he's got so much potential.

" What I love about Adam is he's a big game player, he loves the big games and the big occasions so hopefully we can do something.

"He's still got a long term deal at Norwich but he's definitely someone I'd love to bring back here.

"At 23, with the potential he has and the qualities he has, I think he can really push on in his career."
