A former manager target for Celtic is set for a mega-money move to Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca is set to join the Premier League giants from Leicester City.

The Athletic reports that the Championship title winners have given formal permission to the Stamford Bridge side to talk to their head coach.

An approach was made by Chelsea on Monday afternoon, with the Italian - Pep Guardiola's former assistant at Manchester City - identified as the top candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

And it's said the 44-year-old is expected to agree a bumper five-year contract with the Blues.

Maresca only joined the Foxes last summer after deciding to go it alone in the dugout after breaking ties with City.

He had been heavily linked with the vacant post in the east end of Glasgow after Ange Postecoglou's departure for Tottenham Hotspur last June.

A formal approach was expected to be made by the Hoops for the coach.

However, Dermot Desmond instead opted to go after former manager Brendan Rodgers and well, the rest is history.

Maresca guided Leicester to an impressive season in the Championship, earning promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Kieran McKenna - who won promotion with Ipswich Town - was also under consideration by Chelsea chiefs, but Marseca appears to have won that race.
