Celtic transfer target Jake Clarke-Salter has given an update on his intentions amid interest from Parkhead.

Said to be valued at around £5-6 million, Football Insider reports Celtic are "confident" they could meet Queens Park Rangers' asking price for the central defender - however the sought-after player has admitted being happy where he is.

Speaking to Football League World, Clarke-Salter said: "If I’m being totally honest with myself, I had a lot of ambition growing up at Chelsea – captaining Chelsea and England youth sides – and I had some injuries along the way that has hindered my career.

"To have a home now, to be able to stay fit this season, which I always knew would come around again. I’m confident now that I can put those injuries behind me and I’m just happy now at QPR.

"I have a home, I had a good season in the end and I’m just looking forward to the future."

Elsewhere in the heart of the Hoops' defence, Celtic stalwart Cameron Carter-Vickers is said to be 'drawing transfer interest from several European clubs', however it's understood the American is happy in Glasgow.

When the defender – who has regularly deputised for captain Callum McGregor this season – extended his contract at Paradise earlier this year, manager Brendan Rodgers gushed about the player's input and influence on his side.

He said: "This is great news for us all that Cameron has extended his contract with the club. He has been an absolute rock for us since he joined the club and has played to such a high standard so regularly, week in, week out.

"He has been such a pillar of strength in our defence and a real leader in the team – I know he is held in such high regard, too, by his teammates. His qualities as a player, his personality and his absolute commitment to the game make him a real joy to work with.

"I know Cam loves the club and the city and really has made Celtic his home and we are delighted to have him here with us."

"There has been a lot of talk about the interest in him from elsewhere, but all he has done is get on with his football, decide where he wants to be and we are delighted that he sees his future at Celtic."
