Celtic secured a traditional league and cup double last season, clinching their 54th Scottish Premiership championship and their 42nd Scottish Cup in the process.

Brendan Rodgers' side finished top of Scottish football's top tier with 93 points, eight points above closest rivals Rangers, marking their third consecutive league triumph between 2022 and 2024.

The Scottish Premiership is the top tier of Scottish football. First formed in 1890 as the Scottish Football League, Scotland's top tier has been renamed several times in the intervening period – having been known simply as the Scottish Premier League between 1998 and 2013.

Contested by 12 teams each year, a typical Scottish Premiership season runs for 38 games, with the league splitting into two separate halves after 33 games. At this point, the top six teams play their remaining fixtures against each other, with the same set-up applied to the bottom six.
