Henrik Larsson has been named on a 25-man panel of former footballers to form the UEFA Football Board.
The Celtic idol has been included in a star-studded line-up to help guide UEFA protocols on a number of matters including VAR and handball.
Larsson is one of three members of the panel with Scottish football experience as well as Robbie Keane and Roberto Martinez.
The Football Board will meet annually - as well as "when needed and necessary" - to discuss football matters with UEFA chiefs.
The agenda for the first meeting will include talks on refereeing matters, such as the UEFA line of intervention, VAR, handball and player behaviour, and competition and medical football matters.
UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin commented: "Uefa is delighted to see that the very ones who have shaped the game's history with their talents and philosophy through decades are gathered again around our common goal - to protect the game of football and its essential values.
"As we always say: Football first!"

A statement on the UEFA website added: "UEFA Technical Director and Chief of Football Zvonimir Boban will chair the meeting of the Board.
"He will be supported by Giorgio Marchetti, UEFA Deputy General Secretary and Director of Football, on competition-related topics and by UEFA Chief Refereeing Officer Roberto Rosetti on refereeing matters.
"These meetings will be an annual fixture in the UEFA calendar, but the members will also meet when needed and necessary.
"The agenda for the first meeting foresees discussions on refereeing matters, such as the UEFA line of intervention, VAR, handball and player behaviour, and competition and medical football matters."
