BARCELONA midfielder Alex Collado is reportedly a target for Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou is still in the market for reinforcements ahead of their return to the Champions League next month and the in-demand 23-year-old is “wanted” by the Hoops.

The midfielder will be allowed to depart the Camp Nou this month as Barcelona bid to get all their marquee summer signings registered, with La Liga action set to return this weekend.

And according to reports by Spanish outlet Relevo and journalist Albert Roge, Celtic are one of many clubs interested in the former Spain Under-19 international. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims he will depart Barcelona “very soon” - potentially on loan.

Collado wants to play European football next season, and a move to Celtic Park would allow him to do that. He’s only managed to make two senior appearances for Barcelona after coming through their La Masia academy.

However, a loan to La Liga side Granada in the second half of last season gave him a taste of regular first-team football and despite appearing in all but two of Granada’s league matches after his arrival, he couldn’t help them avoid relegation on the final day.

The Hoops are one of four clubs linked with a move for the Barcelona starlet, with Olympiakos and two unspecified La Liga sides also in the battle for his signature.

A versatile player, Collado featured in central midfield, right wing, left wing and centre forward during his five months at Granada.
