Everything that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said to Sky Sports after his side's 2-1 win over Rangers in the Glasgow Derby

Can you put into your own words the significance of that win today?

It is very significant. We are nearly there now. Not officially but we got the three points and another goal to the goal difference is really good. It was a fantastic win for us.

What did you make of the overall performance?

I thought right up until the penalty we were very good. I thought the start of the game, the energy, and the speed were outstanding. We got ourselves two goals in front. We then switched off and we lost our concentration and they got back into the match. It is a poor goal from our perspective. We got going again in the second half and up until the penalty we were very good. We missed the penalty and that knocked the energy out of our game. We had other chances and we didn't take them. Whenever it is 2-1 at the end of a game there is always that wee bit of tension. It is a brilliant day for Celtic supporters all around the world in bars and houses they all understand that Celtic and Rangers is all about winning. The guys have won today and I am really proud of them.

You mentioned after the penalty but is it good game management that you go and get the win? Or is it a case of you should do better and kill it off as Rangers gained momentum?

You are absolutely right. We should do better. We will not hide away from that. It has happened a few times here as well. We were much the better team and they had 10 men in the first game we played and we left it a lot closer than it should have been. That is the downside to the performance. The great aspect of that is that we can still make a lot of progress in that moment when we are playing against ten men. It is just being tidier with the ball and keeping the ball. I respect that it was a really hot day but still, the demand has to be better when we get to that stage. We had other chances and created opportunities. We shouldn't have that finish to the game but the guys showed a great mentality. That's three victories we have had against Rangers and that shows the mentality in the big games.

Is that mentality something you have to build or can you get that right away in this fixture?

These are such tense games and I pay tribute to the players and the way we started the game. The crispiness and quality of our football was very good. It comes from culture, mentality and the environment and that last bit is just about sheer desire to not get outplayed and win the game. The guys showed great courage and mentality to do that.

Alistair Johnston was taken off. Is he okay?

Yes. It was a consequence of the tackle and hopefully, he will be all right. Tony (Ralston) came in and did a great job for us.

You are nearly there and it is Kilmarnock next which is a place that has been difficult for Celtic this season. Can you relish the build-up now and go and clinch the title and get it over the line?

Yes. It is there for us now and we have to go and win it. We can see the finish line and it is there for us. We will recover and go there on Wednesday and try and finish the job.
